Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs

About the role

This position offers the chance to work in a specialist PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) school where every day brings new challenges and rewards. You will support pupils with complex needs, helping them access learning, develop communication skills and gain independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support throughout the school day.
• Assist pupils with sensory learning, communication activities, personal care, feeding and mobility as required.
• Encourage engagement, confidence and independence in each child.
• Support teachers with classroom preparation, daily routines and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Promote safeguarding and ensure a safe, structured learning environment.

Required profile

• Patient, dependable and able to build positive relationships.
• Calm under pressure and adaptable to changing situations.
• Team‑oriented with a collaborative mindset.
• Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within specialist education.
