Team Leader – Children’s Residential Home

About the role
The role involves day‑to‑day management of a specialist children’s residential home for autistic young people, ensuring their health, wellbeing and individual needs are prioritised. You will lead a team of Autism Practitioners, model best practice and maintain high standards of personalised care.
Key responsibilities
- Line manage, coach and mentor a team of Autism Practitioners.
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of staff.
- Manage staff attendance, sickness and other absences.
- Conduct regular performance check‑ins, reviews and improvement plans.
- Implement autism‑friendly strategies to support learning and wellbeing.
- Deliver personalised support in line with individual care plans.
- Provide personal care where required and promote independence, choice and dignity.
- Maintain a safe, positive and nurturing residential environment.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and risks are assessed.
- Support young people to achieve meaningful and fulfilling outcomes.
Required profile
- Genuine passion for supporting autistic young people.
- Confident, compassionate leader able to motivate and maintain high care standards.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- Minimum two years’ experience as a Support Worker or similar role.
- Experience supporting autistic individuals or those with learning disabilities.
- Experience of line management, coaching or mentoring small teams (desirable).
- Strong knowledge of the needs of autistic individuals with learning disabilities.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and excellent communication skills.
- Proactive, organised and supportive approach with a full UK driving licence.

- Salary £30,750 – £34,850 per annum, dependent on experience.
- Full‑time permanent contract, 37 hours per week.
