Technical Author (S1000D) Remote 6-Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Author with hands‑on S1000D expertise to join a high‑profile defence and engineering programme. The role is primarily remote, with an initial two‑day onsite onboarding in Bristol, and runs for an initial six‑month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and review high‑quality technical documentation in line with S1000D standards.
• Author and edit technical publications using XML authoring tools.
• Serve as the primary technical documentation contact, ensuring deliverables are accurate and on schedule.
• Review publications for quality, accuracy and compliance.
• Support documentation processes and drive continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Recent hands‑on experience with S1000D.
• Proficiency with XML editing/authoring software.
• Ability to provide your own Windows 11‑compatible equipment.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check as part of onboarding.

What we offer

• Rate of £25.50 per hour, inside IR35.
