Technical Officer – Pollution (Noise & Nuisance) Team (Hybrid, London)

About the role

The South London Authority is seeking a Technical Officer to join its Pollution (Noise & Nuisance) Team within the Regulatory Services Partnership on a temporary basis. The role is hybrid, based in London, and requires an immediate start.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to statutory nuisance complaints under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
• Manage pollution issues arising from construction sites in line with the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
• Prioritise cases, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate with the public and stakeholders, providing clear customer care.
• Work collaboratively within the team while also operating independently when required.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Control of Pollution Act 1974.
• Excellent communication and customer‑care abilities.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to work flexibly.
• Full driving licence and daily access to a vehicle.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and on own initiative.
