Trainee Accountant

About the role

Our client is looking for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join a professional accounting team in Birmingham City Centre. This full‑time position offers a structured entry point into the finance sector, providing hands‑on experience and full training in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process invoices, payments and expense claims.
• Support the preparation of accounts and financial reports.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Assist with VAT returns and payroll administration.
• Use accounting software and Microsoft Excel for daily tasks.
• Provide general finance assistance to senior accountants.

Required profile

• A degree or relevant qualification in accounting, finance, business or a related field (preferred).
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Previous accounting experience is beneficial but not essential.
