Accountant – Hybrid Role in City of London

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well‑established international bank in the City of London. The role is hybrid, offering a mix of office and remote work while providing exposure to financial reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting and operational finance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual operating expense budgets for the bank and individual departments.
• Produce monthly operating expense analysis and departmental cost allocation reports.
• Review expenses and receipts to ensure accurate recording and supporting documentation.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain amortisation schedules.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed‑asset, software and prepaid expense registers with the General Ledger.
• Reconcile accounts payable, receivable and suspense accounts.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
• Support parent‑bank reporting and regulatory reporting obligations.
• Provide reports and supporting information for internal and external audits.
• Manage company card administration and settlements.
• Participate in finance‑systems and operating‑expense process enhancements.
• Prepare minutes for Finance Committee meetings.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Finance or Accounting.
• Open to part‑qualified or fully qualified accountants.
• Previous banking experience preferred, ideally with at least 2 years in operating‑expense journal posting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
