Financial Controller – Fintech Payments

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a high‑growth London fintech operating in the payments and e‑money space. You will own financial control in a complex, high‑volume transaction environment, working closely with product, operations and the C‑suite while supporting an upcoming corporate transaction.

Key responsibilities

• Own financial control across a payments‑led, e‑money environment.
• Collaborate with external bookkeepers on payroll and core accounting processes.
• Oversee and improve controls around high‑volume transaction flows (cards, accounts, interchange).
• Support month‑end close, reporting and audit readiness in a regulated setting.
• Partner with product and operations teams to assess the financial impact of payment flows.
• Play a key role in upcoming corporate activity such as sale or M&A.
• Act as a senior support resource within a lean finance team.

Required profile

• Strong financial control background in payments, fintech or e‑money.
• Direct experience with card products, interchange or bank‑account‑based products.
• Comfortable handling high transaction volumes and complex reconciliations.
• Experience operating in regulated environments.
• Exposure to M&A or transaction processes.
• Hands‑on, detail‑focused and commercially aware.
