Accountant – Part-time (20 hrs/week) – Chiswick HQ

About the role

We are seeking a part-time Accountant to join our finance team at Chiswick Auctions. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for processing all financial transactions in Sage and ensuring the general ledger is accurate each month.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain bank accounts, post items to sales and purchase ledgers, and reconcile bank statements weekly.
• Reconcile supplier statements monthly and manage the VAT refund process, including VAT invoicing and correct VAT rate application.
• Post third-party invoices, staff expenses and reconcile credit-card and shipping transactions.
• Handle petty cash, manage petty cash once established, and respond to general accounting enquiries.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant external regulations.
• Support other finance tasks as assigned by the CFO.

Required profile

• Experience working in a busy finance team with basic accounting knowledge.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent teamwork, client service and communication skills in English.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude with an enquiring mind.
