Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Mental Health

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the mental health pharmacy team at Borders General Hospital Campus in Melrose. The role works within a multidisciplinary psychiatry team, providing specialist clinical pharmacy services to both hospital and community patients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services for mental health and psychiatry patients.
• Support regional and national mental health pharmacy programmes.
• Promote robust medicines governance and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary staff and develop the role of pharmacy technicians and support staff.
• Contribute to the implementation of electronic medicines management systems.

Required profile

• Qualified pharmacist with a solid base of general clinical knowledge.
• Post‑foundation RPS accreditation (or equivalent) and ideally an Independent Prescriber qualification.
• Reflective practitioner with strong therapeutic knowledge and practical skills in psychiatry.
• Excellent interpersonal and team‑working abilities, with capacity to provide professional leadership.
