Staff Nurse – Recovery Department (Band 5)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and multiskilled Registered Nurse to join the Recovery Department at Borders General Hospital on a 12‑month secondment. Working 30 hours per week on a day‑shift basis, you will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care to individuals in the immediate postoperative period within a fast‑paced peri‑operative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective nursing care to patients during the immediate postoperative phase.
• Adapt to a busy, constantly changing environment and support out‑of‑hours service needs when required.
• Contribute to the education, training and development of nursing colleagues.
• Participate in staff appraisals, clinical development activities and continuous quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NHS Scotland employment (internal vacancy).
• Clearance for Exposure Prone Procedures (EPP).
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient‑centred care.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• EPP clearance.
