Advanced Specialist Community Respiratory Physiotherapist

About the role

The Advanced Specialist Community Respiratory Physiotherapist joins a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence‑based COPD services across Glasgow. Working from Woodside Health and Care Centre, you will help prevent hospital admissions, support early discharge and manage chronic respiratory disease for vulnerable patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct autonomous, comprehensive assessments of patients with COPD, using investigative and analytical skills.
• Determine suitability for home‑based care versus acute hospital admission.
• Prioritise and triage patients to optimise service flow and resource use.
• Develop individualised treatment and maintenance plans, focusing on exacerbation management, functional maximisation and self‑management.
• Collaborate with GPs, secondary respiratory services and the Early Supported Discharge team.
• Participate in service development, audit, evaluation and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered physiotherapist with extensive experience in community respiratory care.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and make clinical decisions in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Flexibility to respond to changing client and service needs.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
