About the role
The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CEB) at Cambridge seeks an Assistant Professor to join its research community from October 2026. The post combines a 70% research focus with 30% teaching responsibilities, supporting the department’s strategic themes of sustainability and healthcare.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an internationally recognised research group in biotechnology.
- Secure external grant funding and publish in leading journals.
- Teach and examine across the Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Tripos, including areas outside personal expertise.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students, fostering a positive research culture.
- Contribute to departmental service and the wider University collegiate system.
Required profile
- Outstanding record of original research demonstrated by high‑impact publications.
- Experience in obtaining external research funding.
- Strong commitment to teaching and willingness to cover a broad curriculum.
- Ability to build collaborative links with industry and academic partners.
