Assistant Teaching Professor (Fixed Term)

About the role

The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor on a two‑year fixed‑term contract to lead a pilot project under the Pathways to Inclusive Practice programme. The role combines project leadership with scholarly work on inclusive teaching in modern languages.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery and documentation of a multidisciplinary inclusive‑teaching pilot within the faculty.
• Investigate evidence‑based approaches to inclusion for the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos.
• Develop a transformative framework for inclusive practice that can be rolled out across the faculty.
• Report to the co‑chair of Undergraduate Teaching and the Deputy Head of the School of Arts and Humanities (Education).
• Collaborate with the Inclusive Education Hub, Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre, Blended Learning Service, Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning and other university teams.
• Produce scholarly outputs on inclusive practice in modern language education.

Required profile

• PhD level education or an appropriate teaching qualification with substantial experience.
• Background in modern languages education at university or further education level.
• Proven track record and academic interest in developing inclusive teaching practice for modern foreign languages.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and liaise with multiple university services.
