Assistant Tax Manager – Alternatives Tax

About the role

KPMG is expanding its Alternatives Tax practice and seeks an Assistant Tax Manager to provide UK and international tax advice to alternative investment fund clients. You will work with leading private equity, hedge, credit and real‑estate funds, helping them navigate complex tax legislation and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver UK and cross‑border tax advice to Alternative Fund clients, supported by detailed technical research.
• Review and finalise corporation tax and partnership tax returns prepared by the team.
• Participate in client meetings and calls, contributing to technical tax discussions.
• Interact with HMRC via phone and written correspondence.
• Build long‑lasting client relationships and identify broader service opportunities.
• Collaborate with UK and global colleagues to ensure high‑quality client service.
• Support business development through research, marketing material preparation, and event planning.

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as CA/ACA, CTA, solicitor, or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in UK corporation tax with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Track record of delivering high‑quality tax advisory and compliance work.
• Excellent organisational abilities and capacity to manage competing deadlines.
• Exceptional written communication and attention to detail.
• Interest in specialising in Alternative Funds taxation and progressing to leadership roles.
