Commercial Controller

About the role

The Commercial Controller will oversee financial forecasting, cost control and internal compliance for construction projects. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures accurate budgeting, performance tracking and alignment with corporate finance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Compile monthly, quarterly and annual project forecast reports using bespoke tools and the ERP system.
• Prepare short‑ and medium‑term planning for the business unit and analyse variances.
• Track planned versus actual management costs and performance in collaboration with project accounts.
• Implement and maintain internal commercial controls and compliance checks.
• Support invoicing, monthly accruals and asset/inventory management.
• Produce standard and ad‑hoc commercial controlling reports, including cost‑vs‑actual and staff charge‑rate calculations.
• Coordinate with corporate finance, internal accounting and other project teams to ensure consistent reporting and policy adherence.
• Provide backup support to accounting and commercial teams and participate in internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of finance/accounting experience in a construction‑related environment.
• At least 3 years of team‑leadership experience within a project‑based finance team.
• Strong knowledge of commercial finance processes and internal controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for financial reporting and forecasting.
