Cover Supervisor – Flexible Teaching Role

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking reliable Cover Supervisors to step into secondary classrooms across Southampton when teachers are absent. You will deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials, keep pupils engaged and maintain a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher
• Deliver pre‑prepared lesson content and instructions
• Maintain positive behaviour and classroom expectations
• Support pupils with completing set work
• Ensure a safe and productive learning environment
• Cover a variety of subjects across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Liaise with teaching staff and report on lesson outcomes
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Required profile

• Experience working with young people
• Confidence managing groups of students independently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, professional and adaptable approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Excellent organisational and behaviour‑management abilities
• Graduates and aspiring teachers are encouraged to apply
