DevOps Engineer – Cloud & Automation (Glasgow)

About the role

This is the first dedicated DevOps position at a long‑established, employee‑owned digital agency in Glasgow. You will join a small, stable team and have a visible impact on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automation, platform reliability and developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain AWS infrastructure for major client platforms.
• Develop and manage Terraform Infrastructure as Code.
• Create and optimise GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Administer Linux‑based environments and support Docker/Lando workflows.
• Handle Drupal/PHP deployment processes and LAMP stack management.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and improve platform reliability.
• Support Proxmox and internal systems.
• Perform infrastructure upgrades, including Amazon Linux 2023 migration.

Required profile

• Strong experience with AWS services.
• Proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Hands‑on experience with GitLab CI/CD.
• Solid Linux administration skills.
• Understanding of LAMP/PHP application environments.
• Scripting ability in Bash, Python or Perl.
• Collaborative mindset with a focus on improving developer workflows.
• Ability to work on‑site two days per week and live within an hour’s commute of central Glasgow.
