Electrician – Prison Facilities (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for a fully qualified Electrician to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Grendon Springhill. You will work in a secure prison environment, supporting the safe operation of electrical systems for staff, prisoners and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial electrical installations.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults promptly to minimise disruption.
• Ensure all work complies with BS7671:2018 standards and relevant health & safety legislation.
• Collaborate with other tradespeople, including plumbers, carpenters and cleaners, to maintain a safe campus‑like environment.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL).
• Relevant NVQs and competency assessments such as AM2/AM2S (e.g., 2367 or 2357).
• Minimum two years’ experience as a fully qualified electrician.
• Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to work in a secure, regulated environment and follow strict safety protocols.

Required skills

• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation.
• NVQ qualifications.
• AM2/AM2S competency assessments.
• Planned and preventive maintenance techniques.
• Good health & safety knowledge.
