Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a highly capable and commercially aware Financial Controller to lead the finance function in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. The role combines statutory reporting, audit management, process development and commercial decision support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP.
• Maintain internal controls, balance‑sheet integrity and oversee reconciliations.
• Lead annual external audits with Big Four firms and act as primary contact.
• Manage end‑to‑end finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, cash‑flow forecasting, payroll coordination and treasury activities.
• Support implementation and optimisation of ERP/finance systems and build scalable processes.
• Produce management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and provide financial insight to senior leadership.
• Oversee VAT, corporation tax and statutory compliance.

Profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance professional in a start‑up, scale‑up or high‑growth environment.
• Proven track record working with Big Four audit firms.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Advanced financial reporting and consolidation.
• Expertise in Excel and ERP finance systems.
• Audit management and continuous improvement of audit readiness.
• Cash‑flow forecasting, accounts payable and receivable.
• Payroll coordination, banking and treasury operations.
• VAT and corporation tax compliance.
