Hull Lead – New Build Projects in China

About the role

Avantis is seeking an experienced Hull Lead to drive the delivery of new‑build shipyard projects in China. You will lead a multicultural team, ensuring high‑quality hull construction while promoting safety, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all phases of hull construction, from steelwork installation and block assembly to final delivery.
• Coordinate resources, schedules and budgets to meet project milestones and quality standards.
• Supervise and mentor supervisors, welders, fabricators and subcontractors.
• Serve as the primary contact for technical queries, site inspections and progress reporting.
• Identify and resolve engineering and production issues promptly.
• Champion a safe working environment and ensure compliance with maritime regulations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in hull construction, steelwork, or structural engineering within shipbuilding or marine industries.
• Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., degree or apprenticeship in Marine or Structural Engineering).
• Proven track record of leading teams and delivering complex projects in shipyards or heavy‑industry settings.
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership abilities.
• Willingness to be based in China or travel as required; fluency in English is essential.
