About the role
Universal Quantum is developing next‑generation quantum computers and is looking for a Lab Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, calibration, and maintenance of its quantum machines, including laser and optical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble, integrate, calibrate and maintain quantum computing hardware, focusing on laser and optical components.
- Perform functional tests, collect and organise test data, and support temporary test setups.
- Maintain a clean, well‑stocked laboratory environment and ensure equipment readiness.
- Support multidisciplinary teams of physicists and engineers in daily lab activities.
Required profile
- At least 2 years of experience in engineering or research labs, preferably in high‑tech R&D.
- Strong hands‑on skills in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to learn new responsibilities and adapt to evolving projects.
Required skills
- Python programming for automation, data processing and plotting.
- Understanding of laser and optical systems, including alignment and measurement.
- Reading mechanical drawings and optical design/layout documents.
- Basic CAD tools for designing mechanical components.
- Experience with Ultra‑High‑Vacuum (UHV) systems.
