Lecturer in French (Fixed-term, London)

About the role

We are seeking a Lecturer in French to join the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication at Birkbeck, University of London. The role involves teaching French language, modern and contemporary literature and culture (including film) at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels on a one‑year fixed‑term basis.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching in French language and literature to BA and MA students.
• Design and convene selected modules, including film and cultural studies.
• Perform administrative duties associated with module delivery.
• Maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the department’s scholarly activities.

Required profile

• PhD in French, Francophone studies or a closely related field.
• Proven experience teaching in higher education.
• Demonstrable record of research activity.
• Fluency in French and ability to teach at advanced levels.
