National Operations Manager

About the role

DPD is seeking a National Operations Manager to support and develop its depot network across the North/West London area. Reporting to the Network Change Management department, you will oversee short‑term and medium‑term depot management, drive operational projects and champion change across the network.

Key responsibilities

• Drive business KPIs including service quality, operational compliance and cost efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement by reviewing operational platforms and implementing best practices.
• Provide specialist knowledge of automated sortation equipment and develop contingency plans.
• Facilitate new depot openings, integrations, and closures, ensuring smooth operational transition.
• Manage IT project elements such as User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and coordinate with technical teams.
• Mentor and develop designates, graduates and direct reports, fostering a high‑performing team.
• Provide on‑site and remote operational support to depots facing unexpected challenges, identifying opportunities for lasting change.

Required profile

• Strong people‑management experience in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Proven ability to mentor, inspire and lead teams to achieve daily targets.
• Collaborative working style with influence across internal and external stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated with a track record of initiating and driving change.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and apply Lean principles.

Required skills

• Automated sortation equipment expertise.
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for IT projects.

What we offer

• Competitive salary of approximately £59,500 plus bonus and car allowance.
• Permanent contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday (07:00‑15:30).
