NPD Engineer – New Product Development

About the role

We are seeking an experienced NPD Engineer to join a leading manufacturing design and development team. The role involves driving new product development through prototype design, modification and testing, as well as sustaining existing products via DFM, reliability improvements, component alternates and product variations.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise, prototype and test electrical systems for a range of products, ensuring compliance with UK & EU legislation.
• Take ownership of product development, meeting project timescales, functionality and serviceability requirements.
• Test, collect and analyse data, producing technical reports with actionable recommendations.
• Develop manufacturing test procedures and create user and installation documentation.
• Use Solidworks 2D Electrical to produce wiring schematics and production drawings.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and provide impact statements.
• Collaborate with internal teams – Marketing, Design, Production and Technical Services – throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Degree, HND or equivalent in Electrical or Electronics engineering.
• Proven experience working in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Solidworks 2D Electrical.
• Electrical system design and prototype testing.
• Design for Manufacture (DFM) and reliability engineering.
• Component alternates and product variation management.
• Knowledge of UK & EU electrical legislation.
