Occupational Health Shift Nurse

About the role

Join EDF’s occupational health team at the Torness nuclear site, where you will directly support the health, safety and wellbeing of staff working on critical UK energy infrastructure. As an Occupational Health Shift Nurse you will deliver medicals, health surveillance and wellbeing advice in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver occupational health medicals, health surveillance and screening activities within required timeframes.
• Conduct drug and alcohol testing as a trained collection officer.
• Provide health advice, lifestyle guidance and wellbeing support to operational colleagues.
• Maintain accurate health records while upholding strict medical confidentiality.
• Support emergency response and first‑aid duties on site.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with post‑qualification experience.
• Understanding of medical confidentiality, ethics and accountability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a safety‑critical environment.
• Eligibility for security vetting (UK residency 3 of the last 5 years).

Required skills

• Clinical skills: ECG, venepuncture, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring.
• Additional skills (training provided): audiometry, spirometry, HAVs assessment, skin surveillance, decontamination.
• First Aid or FREC 3 certification (advantageous).
• Display Screen Equipment Assessor qualification (advantageous).
• Drugs and alcohol testing competency (advantageous).

What we offer

• Starting salary £40,084 per annum plus an annual shift allowance of £12,760.
