Passenger Assistant – 15 hrs/week (Croydon)

About the role

Join a dedicated team delivering safe, accessible home‑to‑school transport for passengers who cannot use public services. As a Passenger Assistant you will work on a split‑shift basis, supporting the driver and ensuring the comfort and wellbeing of all travellers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the driver to maintain a safe and comfortable environment on board.
• Help passengers board and alight, including those with disabilities, using lifts or other equipment as required.
• Secure wheelchairs with appropriate restraints and verify correct positioning.
• Monitor passenger welfare during transit and report any incidents or delays.
• Operate communication equipment to facilitate smooth service delivery.
• Maintain vehicle security and ensure all safety procedures are followed.

Required profile

• Good understanding of various disabilities and associated needs.
• Patient, level‑headed attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Accurate record‑keeping and reporting capability.

Required skills

• Knowledge of disability assistance procedures.
• Experience operating passenger lifts and safety equipment.
• Familiarity with health and safety standards such as OHSAS 18001.
