Production & Communications Officer – Digital Organising

About the role

The Production & Communications Officer will lead the development and rollout of a digital organising strategy for GMB's North-East, Yorkshire & Humber region. You will create and distribute digital content, manage social media channels, and support campaign communications across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Design and produce print and digital publications to support regional campaigns.
• Create, edit and publish articles for the regional website and other editorial content.
• Maintain and update all social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp) and the website.
• Develop and deliver campaign assets such as emails, infographics, leaflets, videos and microsites on short timelines.
• Commission external design and print services when in‑house capacity is unavailable.
• Organise event logistics, including venue booking, advertising and supplier quotes.
• Attend regional events at short notice to promote GMB activities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of trade union values and the wider labour movement.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and resilience in challenging environments.
• Willingness to work unsocial hours when required.
