Purchase Ledger Clerk

About the role

Private Energy Partners (PEP) is seeking a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join its Finance team in Swindon. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for accurate recording of transactional data across multiple entities, handling supplier invoices, and supporting employee expense processing. The role is hybrid, with three days in the office and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Enter pending vendor invoices accurately and promptly in Xero.
• Monitor invoice approvals and chase outstanding approvals.
• Prepare payment run proposals for supplier and employee expense payments.
• Create upload files for bank‑processed payment runs.
• Match accounts payable payments and reconcile supplier balances in Xero.
• Handle supplier queries and onboard new suppliers.
• Match accounts receivable receipts in Xero.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations.

Required profile

• Approximately 3 years of experience in purchase ledger or accounts payable.
• Experience working with multi‑entity structures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Excellent time‑management and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a dynamic team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
