QA Assistant (Fixed-Term) – Food Manufacturing

About the role

The QA Assistant will support the Quality Manager in maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices and ensuring compliance with company procedures and customer standards in a food manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Handle queries from trading, customers, technical and production teams regarding food/feed safety, legislation and quality requirements.
• Participate in external audits (BRCGS, EFISC, Red Tractor, Kosher, Halal) and coordinate internal GMP audits.
• Investigate quality incidents and customer complaints, determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct periodic audits of the QMS, HACCP, CCP, OPRPs, policies and procedures.
• Perform traceability and mock‑recall exercises for certification bodies and customers.
• Oversee contract hygiene and pest‑control teams, ensuring site cleanliness and pest‑proofing.
• Manage the Salmonella sampling program and analyse results, reporting incidents and near‑misses.
• Prepare MOC and project documentation, generate quality‑related purchase and work orders.

Required profile

• Degree or HND in Quality, Food Science or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years of QA/technical experience in food manufacturing, preferably supervisory.
• Internal Audit Certificate (ISO19001, BRCGS, FSSC2200) – essential.
• HACCP Level 2 and Food Safety Level 2 certificates – essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
