Residential Support Worker

About the role

This rewarding opportunity supports women affected by domestic abuse and complex needs to rebuild safer, more independent lives. Working within a refuge and the local community, you will create a safe, structured environment that builds confidence, independence and practical life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Build positive professional relationships and provide trauma‑informed, person‑centred support to residents.
• Deliver daily living, wellbeing, leisure, creative and therapeutic activities that encourage confidence and independence.
• Welcome and induct new residents, promote a safe and respectful environment, and carry out regular welfare and building checks.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and respond calmly to challenging situations.
• Work with criminal‑justice and support agencies, act as Fire Warden and First Aider when required.

Required profile

• Women only – occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
• Good literacy and numeracy, understanding of safeguarding, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Resilient, empathetic, able to handle confidential information sensitively and remain calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
