Senior IT Project Manager

About the role

Cafcass, a digital organisation rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, is seeking two experienced Senior IT Project Managers to lead large‑scale, transformational IT projects. Working closely with the IT Programme Manager, you will ensure projects deliver agreed outcomes, benefits, and quality for a mobile, flexible workforce supporting children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex IT projects from initiation through implementation.
• Provide visible leadership to IT Project Managers and project teams.
• Plan and manage multiple projects concurrently within agreed governance.
• Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
• Manage project budgets, risks, issues and dependencies.
• Define, track and realise project benefits.
• Challenge assumptions and provide assurance on plans, delivery and outcomes.
• Report progress, risks and finances to sponsor boards and senior leaders.
• Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders, PMO and suppliers.

Required profile

• Confident and experienced IT Project Manager with a track record of delivering complex change.
• Strong leadership capability, including line‑management of project teams and external suppliers.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working with sensitive and confidential data.
