Station Enquiry Officer

About the role

The Station Enquiry Officer provides a professional, first‑line service to members of the public who contact the police station, primarily in person and also by telephone. Working Monday to Friday, 09:00‑17:00, you will advise on police‑related matters, handle general enquiries and support the force through the operation of administrative and communication systems.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and respond to telephone enquiries with accurate information.
• Provide advice on police procedures, crime reporting and general public safety.
• Operate national, force and local computer and communication systems to record and process enquiries.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow data protection guidelines.
• Escalate complex or vulnerable cases to appropriate officers.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional.
• Capability to obtain relevant information quickly and apply correct procedures.
• Experience dealing with distressed, injured or disoriented callers.
• Successful completion of probationary period for internal applicants.

Required skills

• Keyboard skills.
• Proficiency with computer and communication systems used in police administration.
• Previous office experience.
