Tax Manager – Governance & Risk Management

About the role

KPMG is seeking a Tax Manager to join its fast‑growing Tax Governance & Risk Management team in Canary Wharf. You will help expand the firm’s tax governance offering, support existing clients and win new business across a diverse portfolio of UK listed, private equity‑backed and multinational organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and manage global tax risks, building sustainable tax control frameworks that meet authority requirements.
• Advise clients on tax risks within transformation and technology projects, including senior accounting officer and corporate criminal offence compliance.
• Prepare HMRC business risk reviews and liaise with HMRC on governance matters.
• Develop, document and publish client tax strategies, ensuring alignment with global transparency and ESG requirements.
• Leverage tax technology to improve risk‑management and compliance processes.
• Coach and develop junior team members and contribute to the team’s operational performance and resourcing.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or equivalent) with solid tax governance, corporate tax and accounting experience.
• Proven experience delivering tax governance projects for listed, PE‑backed or multinational clients.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and ability to identify business‑development opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross‑border teams.
• Motivation to thrive in a dynamic, high‑growth environment.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of UK tax legislation and global tax authority requirements.
• Experience with tax risk assessment and control framework design.
• Familiarity with tax technology solutions and ESG reporting standards.
