Technical Production Specialist

About the role

ITV Signpost, an award‑winning production unit in the North East, is seeking a Technical Production Specialist to join its Gateshead studio. You will operate a wide range of technical equipment and software to deliver broadcast‑quality British Sign Language translations and support bespoke projects for external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Operate studio equipment including broadcast cameras, lighting rigs, vision mixers and playback/ingest servers.
• Monitor recordings to ensure they meet industry technical standards and Ofcom Television Access guidelines.
• Follow ITV and Signpost production procedures, policies and Ofcom codes.
• Manage media assets using Signpost’s media management systems, maintaining accurate logs, tracking, delivery and archiving.
• Support additional tasks such as editing with Adobe tools, creating subtitles, encoding/transcoding video and handling secure file transfers.

Required profile

• Practical experience operating video and audio equipment in a studio or similar environment.
• Knowledge of encoding, transcoding and digital asset transfer.
• Previous work for a media company and a relevant media qualification or equivalent experience.
• English qualification to A‑level standard and a good understanding of digital/social media production techniques.
• Desirable: BSL qualification or a strong willingness to learn BSL.
• Attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong organisational skills.
