Temporary Works Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our Design team in Glasgow. You will work within a 100‑strong Construction Engineering capability delivering safe, buildable solutions for complex projects, including temporary works and traffic management.

Key responsibilities

• Agree technical requirements with clients, develop fee proposals and lead the design team’s workload.
• Ensure designs comply with legal requirements, CDM Regulations, and Kier’s SHE Management and Quality Management Systems.
• Produce design deliverables such as calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments.
• Identify value‑engineering opportunities and implement approved solutions.
• Manage project finances and commercial aspects with support from Engineering and Commercial Managers.
• Maintain project documentation, provide regular progress reports and issue early warnings on potential overspends.

Required profile

• Completed IEng Initial Professional Development (or progressing towards CEng) with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE).
• Level 6 or Level 7 qualifications with significant relevant experience.
• Proven experience designing temporary works.
