Transport Planner – London Gateway

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our award‑winning logistics operation at London Gateway. The role involves daily planning and optimisation of a vehicle fleet to maximise utilisation while delivering high‑quality service to multiple customers. You will collaborate with drivers, subcontractors and depots across the UK to develop efficient transport solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce daily transport plans that meet customer requirements.
• Maximise fleet utilisation and support revenue targets.
• Negotiate delivery schedules and subcontractor rates.
• Manage subcontractor onboarding and ensure compliance with standards.
• Participate in daily planning review meetings.
• Deliver cost‑effective transport solutions and maintain accurate system updates.
• Provide high levels of customer service across multiple accounts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transport planning, preferably with container movements.
• Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Good understanding of tachograph, working time and drivers’ hours regulations.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work 45 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, with weekend cover on a rota basis.

Required skills

• Experience using TOPS transport management system.
• Familiarity with Destin8 planning software.
• Knowledge of VBS system.
