Vice President, Legal Counsel – Employment Law & Litigation

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is seeking a Vice President, Legal Counsel to join its EMEA Legal Department in London. The role sits within the Investigations, Litigation and Employment team and operates under a dual‑hat arrangement, providing legal services to both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality legal advice on complex employment matters, including policy guidance and dispute resolution.
• Manage employment litigation and represent the firm in court or arbitration proceedings.
• Conduct internal and regulatory investigations, coordinating with Compliance, HR, Internal Audit and Risk.
• Handle commercial disputes and support banking and securities business lines.
• Collaborate with senior management and cross‑functional teams across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in employment law and litigation.
• Proven ability to work on sensitive matters and manage high‑stakes investigations.
• Experience operating in a dual‑hat environment serving both banking and securities entities.
• Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks across EMEA (and optionally Japan, US).
• Excellent communication skills and the capacity to interact with senior stakeholders.
