Crown Attorney – Term Position

About the role

The Public Prosecution Service (PPS) is seeking a qualified legal professional to join its team in Pictou as a Crown Attorney on a term basis. This role offers the chance to contribute directly to the administration of justice and public safety in Nova Scotia.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Crown in criminal and quasi‑criminal matters at all court levels.
• Prepare and present cases, including handling appeals.
• Provide legal advice and assistance to law‑enforcement agencies.
• Participate in the development and review of criminal law and prosecution policy.
• Maintain accurate case files and manage docket schedules.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited institution and call to the bar in Nova Scotia.
• Demonstrated experience in criminal law practice.
• Strong commitment to fairness, professionalism, and ethical standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) principles.
