2D Lead & Compositing Supervisor (London)

About the role

Framestore is seeking a seasoned 2D Lead & Compositing Supervisor to drive the compositing effort on a variety of advertising, episodic and immersive projects. The role blends hands‑on compositing work with team leadership, ensuring high‑quality visual effects that meet Framestore’s renowned standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and organise a team of junior, mid‑level and senior compositors across multiple projects.
• Maintain overall quality of the compositing output and take responsibility for shot‑by‑shot delivery.
• Perform hands‑on compositing on shots and sequences to a finished standard.
• Collaborate proactively with VFX, CG, lighting, photography and other support departments.
• Work with production to bid, schedule and plan compositing work.
• Attend client reviews and run daily compositing team reviews.
• Provide on‑set VFX supervision for 2D‑focused projects.
• Manage colour pipeline and 2D workflow integration with DI, CG and DMP pipelines.

Required profile

• 8+ years of compositing experience across film, advertising and episodic content.
• Proven leadership and artist‑management abilities, including recruiting and building a 2D team.
• Strong eye for detail and a high‑quality compositing showreel.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent organisational and negotiation skills.

Required skills

• Expert proficiency with Nuke and other compositing software.
• Deep understanding of film VFX pipelines and processes.
• Colour pipeline management and 2D workflow integration.
• Lighting and photography core skills.
• On‑set VFX supervision experience (preferred).
