Accountant – Finance Team (Aberdeen)

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to join a fast‑growing, technology‑led engineering business in Aberdeen. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Subsea), you will provide operational finance support and help build scalable financial processes as the company expands internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and process financial data accurately in the accounting system.
• Handle multi‑currency accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Prepare journals, accruals, pre‑payments and support month‑end closing.
• Assist with global project invoicing and inter‑company recharge processes.
• Prepare payroll allocations and related journal entries.
• Perform bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations across multiple currency accounts.
• Support VAT returns, statutory filings and audit preparation.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and related depreciation schedules.
• Collaborate with Finance Managers to improve and streamline financial workflows.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in a multi‑entity, international or project‑based engineering environment.
• Strong analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
• Comfort working with large data sets and financial systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with finance and operational stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Multi‑currency accounting knowledge.
