Accountant – Financial Control & Reporting

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced Accountant for a hands‑on financial control role at a pivotal stage of the company’s development. Based in Ulverston, you will own day‑to‑day financial control across multiple group entities and support the business as it expands internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bank, ledger and balance‑sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Drive a robust month‑end close process and produce clear management accounts with commentary at department, entity and consolidated group level.
• Prepare consolidated cash‑flow forecasts and support active cash management to optimise interest earned.
• Support statutory audit preparation and act as a key point of contact for auditors.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, ensuring accurate additions, disposals and depreciation.
• Strengthen internal controls, including month‑end checklists, sign‑off routines and segregation of duties.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, KPI reporting and detailed variance analysis.
• Assist with UK and international VAT returns, payroll filings, corporation tax workings and statutory reporting.
• Contribute to year‑end consolidation, disclosures and intercompany arrangements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIMA) with post‑qualification experience in financial control and reporting.
• Strong balance‑sheet control capabilities and proven month‑end close experience in multi‑entity environments.
• Experience with audit processes, either practice‑trained or industry‑side.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
