Senior Finance Manager – Controls

About the role

We are partnering with a market‑leading financial services organisation in Birmingham that is seeking a Senior Finance Manager – Controls. The role will strengthen the financial control environment, influence business performance and ensure robust governance across a fast‑paced, complex organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of financial control frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, financial regulations and governance requirements.
• Identify, assess and mitigate financial and operational risks, overseeing control testing programmes and remediation.
• Support internal and external audits and drive process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Partner with finance, operational and senior leadership teams to embed a strong controls culture and produce insightful reporting for senior management.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in financial control, governance, risk, audit or compliance within the financial services sector.
• Extensive experience reporting under IFRS, particularly IAS 19 (pension) and IAS 37 (provisions).
• Proven ability to lead change, influence senior decision‑makers and manage a high‑performing team.
