Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a leading client in the North East. The role is full‑time, permanent and based in Blaydon‑on‑Tyne, offering a supportive team environment and opportunities for professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the cash book, recording all receipts and payments and performing daily bank reconciliations in SAP.
• Reconcile sales and purchase ledgers, produce statements and reports.
• Enter supplier invoices, manage BACS payments, track refunds and produce remittance reports.
• Process credit applications, monitor outstanding debts and prepare solicitor letters where required.
• Carry out monthly accounts reconciliation and post expense entries.
• Manage petty cash, process credit‑card transactions and allocate costs to appropriate cost centres.
• Handle incoming telephone queries and support the financial controller with ad‑hoc tasks.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or credit control role.
• AAT qualification is desirable.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
