AI Strategy and Transformation Lead

About the role

UK Biobank is seeking an AI Strategy and Transformation Lead to shape AI governance, policy, and deployment across its world‑leading health data environment. You will work at the intersection of technology, strategy, and policy to ensure responsible innovation and long‑term impact on health research.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of iterative AI data governance policies that balance research advancement with emerging security and management risks.
• Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across academia, industry, and government to foster responsible AI use cases.
• Monitor scientific, policy, technological, and regulatory developments in AI, conducting horizon scanning and expert engagement.
• Contribute to an ambitious organisational AI strategy and provide expert advice on strategic, technological, and policy considerations.
• Support wider organisational priorities such as philanthropic fundraising and technical procurement through AI expertise.

Required profile

• Hands‑on delivery experience leading AI transformation, digital change programmes, or adoption of emerging technologies in a regulated, public‑sector or health environment.
• Proven ability to analyse complex technical, legal and strategic factors and translate them into actionable policy.
• Comfortable bridging technical, strategic and policy conversations with diverse stakeholders.
