Applications Development Group Manager

About the role

The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management position responsible for leading teams to design, develop, and implement new or revised application systems in collaboration with the Technology Team. The role drives applications systems analysis and programming activities across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple professional teams to achieve established goals, including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
• Provide strategic influence over resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring outcomes.
• Utilize in‑depth knowledge of applications development to resolve complex issues and ensure essential procedures are followed.
• Contribute to defining standards and integrate development expertise with overall technology functions.
• Offer evaluative judgement in dynamic situations, drawing on internal and external sources.
• Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties as needed.
• Assess risk appropriately, uphold Citi’s reputation, and ensure compliance with laws, policies, and ethical standards.

Required profile

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in applications development.
• Demonstrated management experience, including leading global technology teams.
• Background in financial services, preferably Custody or Securities Services.
• Working knowledge of industry practices and standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
