Area Sales Engineer – Precision Engineering & Manufacturing

About the role

This field‑based position is for an Area Sales Engineer covering Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. You will work for a global, award‑winning company that specialises in precision engineering and manufacturing equipment, helping customers improve performance and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Visit existing clients and prospective customers to understand their technical needs and promote the company’s product range.
• Generate, qualify and develop new sales leads, working alongside engineering specialists where required.
• Prepare quotations, negotiate terms and close sales to achieve or exceed targets.
• Provide product demonstrations, support exhibitions and attend marketing events.
• Balance account management duties with new business development across the assigned territory.

Required profile

• Proven sales experience in capital equipment, precision engineering or manufacturing sectors.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a field‑based environment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer‑focused attitude.
• Valid UK driver’s licence.

• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into commercial proposals.
