Assistant General Manager – Self Storage

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious Assistant General Manager to support the day‑to‑day running of our busy self‑storage facility in Birmingham. Working closely with the General Manager, you will help ensure smooth operations, drive sales performance and deliver an outstanding customer experience. The role also involves stepping in for the General Manager when required and supporting other stores in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the self‑storage site, including customer enquiries, reservations, move‑ins and move‑outs.
• Drive sales by identifying customer needs, promoting storage solutions and achieving sales targets.
• Coach, motivate and supervise the team, providing training and performance feedback.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, security, merchandising and Health & Safety compliance.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and build relationships with local businesses to generate new opportunities.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a retail or sales environment with supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues.
• Organised, proactive and comfortable handling administrative tasks.
• Willingness to travel between stores when needed.
