About the role
Are you wanting to make a difference for children and young people with special needs? This specialist school in Woking is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Aspiring Child Counsellor / Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of learning, physical, sensory and behavioural challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in delivering the learning experience.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Implement safeguarding guidelines and ensure a safe classroom environment.
- Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Attend staff meetings and complete relevant CPD activities.
Required profile
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, caring approach.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with pupils and work collaboratively with therapists and counsellors.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- Reliable transport to commute to Woking.
What we offer
- Fantastic on‑site training, support and continuous professional development.
- Term‑time only contract, Monday to Friday, 08:30‑15:30, paid at £93‑£105 per day.
