Assistant Fire Engineer (Graduate)

About the role

As a Graduate Fire Engineer you will join RLB’s fire engineering team to develop fire safety strategies and provide technical advice across the project lifecycle. You will work on a variety of building types, from concept design through to construction, ensuring fire safety is fully integrated.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing fire safety strategies and reports for new and existing buildings in line with UK regulations and international codes.
• Perform fire engineering calculations, including means of escape, smoke control, and structural fire protection.
• Support the use of computational tools such as CFD and evacuation modelling software.
• Contribute to fire risk assessments, audits, and site inspections.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients, architects, and building control bodies.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in fire safety legislation and technical standards.

Required profile

• A degree (or pending) in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Services, or a related STEM discipline.
• Client‑focused, positive collaborator who shares knowledge freely and supports peers and seniors.
• Team player with a strong willingness to learn and a proactive approach to delivering customer service excellence.
