Assistant Group Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic Assistant Group Accountant to join the finance team of a leading international law firm. You will work closely with the Group Finance Manager and international finance colleagues to ensure consistent accounting practices across all offices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Group Finance Manager in coordinating monthly management accounts from all global offices.
• Review office profit & loss statements, balance sheet compositions and reconciliation schedules, and follow up on queries.
• Support monthly bank reconciliation reviews and ensure consistent General Ledger posting treatment firm‑wide.
• Help review budgeted overheads during the annual budgeting process and update the Cognos TM1 model with international finance teams.
• Coordinate cost recharges from London to overseas offices and communicate budget implications.
• Liaise with internal audit to implement control improvements and support external auditors during fieldwork.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and policies and propose practical solutions.

Required profile

• Currently studying towards the ACCA qualification.
• Experience in the legal sector, professional services, or audit environment.
• Strong focus on General Ledger management and housekeeping.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and data management.
• Experience with Cognos TM1 budgeting tool.
• Familiarity with Elite 3E Practice Management System (advantageous).
• General Ledger management.
